Title: Ebay watch
Post by: krakow on February 11, 2008, 04:56:04 PM
How about a thread for items spotted on ebay that might be of potential interest to other noise.as folks? Either your own sales or simply interesting auctions that you happened to spot.

I'll kick off with a claimed original copy of the Oz Days Live double LP (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=260208855838&_trksid=p3984.cWAT.m240.lVI), featuring Les Rallizes Denudes and Taj Mahal Travellers, which is currently sitting at $450 with a day and a half to go. Maybe someone has the disposable income and collector's desire to have a bid at this?

The thread is a good idea.

I'm not sure about the bid, though.  ;)
Reminds me the original Haino's "Watashi Dake?" LP few weeks ago, but this one will be sold at a very high price. Funny thing is that OZ Days is constantly being sold on ebay, each month you're able to purchase one if you wish. Oh, and if you have the money, too.

How much did "Watashi Dake?" go for?

I think I'd be pretty disappointed with the Oz Days LP if I paid what it's up to now! That is, if I was buying it for the music.

So who's interested in a copy of the Love Live Life + One LP "Love Will Make a Better You"? Not the original, but the LP "reissue" that came out in the early 90s? I might put my copy up on ebay soon, I doubt I'll ever listen to it again.

I think it was 160$... and now it's being sold on another website for 198€.

Just to give an idea, I had my copy of this 2xLP for $105 as a Christmas present.
This one may reach a higher price though.

Someone gave me a copy of this for free  ;D - some years back now. But it used to often turn up 2nd hand for only 3000 or 4000 yen...whenever I was in Tokyo, I used to regularly see copies in places like Disk Union for pretty reasonable prices, so I never thought this was that rare a release. It might be one of those items you can get through the Yahoo Japan auctions or similar for way cheaper than on ebay.

And I have to say, while I've lost interest in many of the solo Haino releases for various reasons, this double Fushitsusha album is something I don't think I'll be parting with anytime soon - it's really one of the highlights of not just Haino's career, but the whole contemporary Japanese underground.

eh, i have a theory that the japanese pricing / availability of this kind of thing has gone up due to the advent of people who cover japan ask to flip for int'l bid on ebay.

btw disc union were selling deadstock copies of oz days a few years back for ~\50000, guess i should have bought them all(!)

for the record psf 3/4 is immense but i personally view the time is nigh as the sina qua non of haino/fushitsusha.  even compared to 15/16.

Damn it that those Tokuma Fushitsusha titles are so bloody hard to get hold of.

I must say I kinda agree with janitorfrommars about this. "The Time is Nigh" is really haunting, less "parodic" than the double-live sets (PSF's, "Purple Trap" and "I Saw It!") or, say, Pathetique. Still, every piece is most enjoyable.

Now that's true it's hard to grab most of the Tokuma. I remember I had the chance to get "A Death Never to be Complete"  for $20, but I had to chose (that day I bought "The Time is Nigh" and "The Wisdom Prepared" for the same price). In a few hours, there was nothing left.

Oh yes, and about the '96 "Purple Trap" double live (ltd to 500 copies on Blast First) : a copy was sold immediately on eBay for $150, four hours after the beginning of the auction. There was another one on amazon.fr, for $110, sold in a couple of days.

Maybe you have to become a hardcore record geek to find something - at least on the web  ;D

Heh, I know who that seller is. Anyway, that's the one more commonly known as "Sruthi Box" right? It's a wonderful piece of music that's for sure so it's no throwaway if you like his dronier side. I have no money to invest in it for now though.

If this minidisc goes for a hundred dollars like it was said previously on the Haino topic, I don't think it's really worth of it. For completists only, right?

edit: It finally went for £50 (~$100).

Original promo pressing of the legendary Fushitsusha's first double live.

A surprisingly quiet result in the end, with just a handful of bids on each and '77 Live going for £200 and '67-'69 for £112.

I did bid and was kind of afraid that I was going to win for a while, when I couldn't really afford to do so, but was saved at the last moment, though only by a few pounds in each case.

More Rallizes action: the Etcetera Magazine & 7'' single (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260341191718) with a Buy It Now of $215 and a $99 opening bid.

It doesn't look like the Etcetera 7'' sold. There was just a lone starting price bid on it, which didn't meet the reserve.

A seller called combat_yeti (http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/combat_yeti) is selling a few Univive titles which seem to be gathering interest though. I guess the lowish starting prices in £ from a solid-seeming UK seller who appears to know what he's on about in the descriptions looked as tempting to everyone else as it did to me...

In case anyone is feeling frisky...
Frisky? I, Frumpy pretence ‘tis. The competition over "Koko" was rather sedate, do you think?  Currently, maintaining a façade of fake-nonchalance après gulping Clayton’s ‘stiff-upper-lip’ in the wake of bearing witness to such injudicious fiscal divestment: the vertiginous bidding normally ensuing… “Koko” – along with the solo hurdy-gurdy VHS of Etcetera - was probably the last, alas, now improbable, CDs, of any artist,  I’ve  held out for (am holding out for, in unconsummated futility), my L.R.D. – O.C.D. notwithstanding!

Contributing factor to this hopelessness is Ebay or the prevalence of its users’ fatwa upon non-Ebay ‘approved payment methods’ and one’s own luddite-like avoidance  the perusal of online / credit systems , despite one’s banks’ nagging entreaties to ‘up the limit’ on some kind of prospective self-imposed-interest-loaded deficit, to incur oblivious to the planetarily-engulfing debital debilitory tidal wave and‘max’ one’s cards ‘out’ at invitation of yet another Ebay-sanctioned pecuniary-bloodbath (ie. Haino/ Fushitsusha auctions)!
To reflect in that hallucinatory pool that is a ‘cash or other payment method’ oasis from PayPal…… beyond this mirage lurks the  desert-dwelling chameleon(euros)? … Lo! Rather, a venomously-tailed-one…. scorpion(exchange rate) presents illusorily, Faust-like (legend not band) ….just how much did Tiliqua Rare Records demand for ‘Koko’ last time? I think I nearly vomited.  And this? went for merely US$49.00– agony! Yea, go forth thou, opportunistic collector-scum/hyenas,  sweep vulture-like … feast advantageously and take your fill of the carrion of that festering remains of a globular economic critically deflated market “……I weep, I sing, in joy and woe, as in doubtful ease - for my sweet thoughts sometime do pleasure bring, But! by and by the cause of my disease giveth me a pang that inwardly doth sting, When that I think what grief it is again to live and lack the thing should rid my pain” ie.catalogue# PSF-00. Anyway, the mantle upon which I place “Koko” was congealed of the same lather-inducing froth (informed by salivatory otaku-esque exaltation of online reviews) that coagulated into my Haino/ Fushitsusha collection(-scum-like manner so sourced, sicut ante/mea culpa) much of which is in this second lot(s)…And! the damage’s shaping-up, as if to make this whining rant redundant, to only US$120 for 12 CDs. If I understand correctly, I'm sorry to hear you missed out Coquille. I also would have expected a bit more fervour for the Koko CD; whoever got it at $50 did well I think.

I did pay even less than that for my copy, but I have no idea why the auction I won at didn't generate any action (I won Koko and 2 other Haino PSF titles for just £30 in autumn last year!). Perhaps it was karma for all my other continuing efforts and investements on the Haino front!

...karma for efforts and investements on the Haino front...
Yep, viewing some of these out-of-control spending-sprees, I’ve a developed a cruel streak! Indulgence in one too many sour grapes, indeed it is karma that bites one back!
I must learn to be happy for those lucky devils nabbing something for a decent price!
.... have no idea why the auction I won at didn't generate any action....
Really, I have to be honest (and grateful) in that I too have had the good fortunate of circumstance and acquaintance to find pretty much all that I’ve wanted plus more.

Okay then, no more tantrums from me!…. except…. for my little um, hobby.... meted-out for Univive (sorry, it‘s a love/hate thing).

krakow, maybe that Koko you got for peanuts was also not overbid by another user of this forum, because he saw it coming? anyway, I tried to get that copy this time but I could not afford more than $45 a CD, even the über-rare-mindblowing-must-have one.

But I'm impressed by the low price the man sold his Fushitsusha collection on eBay. I'd be interested to see how much the "Purple Trap" 2-CD set would be going for, instead of $100. I also remember I have seen Haino 1st LP sold for $50, half its usual re-sale price...

Yes, I'm always grateful to you BzL for bowing out, I sincerely hope you don't regret it or wish too strongly otherwise. It would have been unfortunate for us to fight against each other for it unwittingly. It sounds like you were very close this time. As discussed above, hopefully your karma will come back and treat you right eventually...

No hard feelings at all  :) my Haino fever has tempered for one year, maybe because I think I have enough of his materials for the moment. Still, it's a shame I could not win this time, but there will be other opportunities, I'm sure! It seems the crisis also strikes Japanoise collectors. I find it incredible to get the lot 6 Fushitsusha albums (with rarities) for only $60, i.e. the price some paid for Gold Blood only a couple of years ago...

Has the Haino bug entered yet to the endangered species?

There certainly seems to be a lot of offloading at the moment. Three more Tokuma titles today:

Haino - Keeping on Breathing (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260421222038)

Fushitsusha - A Death Never To Be Complete (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260421223445)

Fushitsusha - The Time Is Nigh (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260421224662)

All from the same Japanese seller, starting at $50 a piece, with 6 days to run.

(Fushitsusha titles sold for $50 each, Keeping on Breathing unsold and relisted).

BzL, I'm very glad that there's no hard feelings, you had me worried for a moment there! :-)

I've edited the final selling prices into my previous posts.

Despite failing to sell it at $50, the seller has relisted 'Keeping On Breathing' with a $100 Buy It Now - hmmm....

Soul's True Love went for $138 this time.

clerouley on discogs has a copy of the Purple Trap Blast First 2CD for $135 at the moment: Fushitsusha - Purple Trap (http://www.discogs.com/sell/item/11660922)
He also has Abandon All Words.. for $38 and is worth keeping an eye on for all kinds of goodies, though he knows his stuff, so you won't get bargain prices. Recommended nonetheless.

“……I weep, I sing, in joy and woe, as in doubtful ease - for my sweet thoughts sometime do pleasure bring, But! by and by the cause of my disease giveth me a pang that inwardly doth sting, When that I think what grief it is again to live and lack the thing should rid my pain”

Minus the rhyme I think we have a winner in the Haino Keiji song title contest.

I have the "Koko" CD and it's good but not as good as the version on the Fushitsusha 2LP. Perhaps I'll learn this whole upload thing and you guys can stop bidding long enough to allow the prices to drop.

I'm somewhat surprised at the current drought of Haino material. I got the green one with the Zeni Geva drummer. Anyone heard the one with the insects?

The crickets project is a 30 minutes piece,  heavily processed and filtered through a batch of electronics devices, sounding like some ring modulators effects, Air FX (not sure...) and reverb, a stronger tone generator line ( a bit like "So, Black is myself") comes in  the second half.
Quite an ambiant piece, with delicate reverberated alienish sounds in the middle, I think he used more wildly some similar effects with his solo "Uchu ni Karamitsuiteru Waga Itami " CD on PSF .
I have to admit I'm not aware of this kind of stuff....

More satisfying is  Mamoru Fujieda's   metallic droney piece.

“……I weep, I sing...”....Haino Keiji song title ....
"Koko" CD  not as good as ... Fushitsusha 2LP.
It's Elizabethan lingo that best serves anglicization of Haino (I paraphrase Alan in his note for Les Disques Victo)!  I wondered if some laureate could help in the matter of the meaning of 'Fushitsusha' / '不失者' (http://www.noise.as/forum/index.php/topic,210.msg1042.html#msg1042) ... i thought that'd be choice for expressing the turmoil of engaging in the pretension  of artistic appreciation, done so through the self-debasing ecologically-depleting medium of materialistic consumption and delusion. I hunger, even now, still I think … not dishonourably price-tagged, though.
clerouley on discogs ... worth keeping an eye on for all kinds of goodies...
Comparitive pricing analysis shows that this seller does so savvily / sanely where plenty of others charge like a bull at a gate - in a china shop … possibly with the resultant fiscal trauma,  just alluded to.

Another copy of Soul's True Love: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380131116891 this one still sealed - oh boy! Starting at $204 with 6 days to run.

Hard to believe this is 14 years old!

Still no bites on the Haino boxed set. Funny that. Last week those Tokuma discs got very little action. I wonder is the Crunch hitting the devoted followers of Haino-san? Or is it the matter of the high starting prices which turns folks off?

It's steep for a starting price, but could go, as being sealed offers peace of mind as regards the condition.

For me, $50 seems like a reasonable going rate for the Tokuma titles, so I'm kind of surprised that they didn't seem to do so well. I guess times are hard for pretty much everyone at the moment financially. I have and would pay £25/$50 for any of them in good condition and would try to sell at the same level.

....copy of Soul's True Love ....still sealed ....$204

Looks as if this'll be passed in....  It is an indicator of condition ...but do you want pay for something so pristine you can't actually use it (take plastic off?)

Another Clagare Otoko No Hadakararizu - one of the rarer last two which were supposedly May '86 Yaneura...  bidding still lower than the local postage!

Somebody did take Soul's True Love in the end, though, with only one bid, it went for the $204 starting price.

I don't search eBay for 6 weeks and this is what happens  :(    Damn.   (But ill try and console myself with the idea that $100 bids were put on them..)

Good job I got this when I did...all of 3 years ago from Opposite Records ($18 it was!)

ruach's copy of Koko finishing in half an hour (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260442195510).

Finished for a very reasonable $42. Did anyone here get lucky?

Another copy of I Saw It... an album by which I've come to swear. In the interest of generosity, I point out this listing (not mine):

Just under three days to go.
Well worth a punt.
