Title: Takayanagi box
Post by: alancummings on January 26, 2009, 10:30:01 PM
One exciting piece of news just in - in March, Jinya is to release a five CD boxset of previously unreleased Masayuki Takayanagi/New Direction Unit performances.

The performances seem to date from between the Axis and Moers period, and were recorded at the groups regular shows in Tokyo at JeanJean and Pulcinella in Shibuya. The group is a variety of trio, quartet, quintet and sextet lineups.

So we're looking forward to hear live performances dated between '75 and '80? This looks like a fantastic new! Thanks Alan. :) I am really craving to see what this release will look like.

But I assume the price range will be fairly high... say, ~ $90?

No idea what the price will be, but if the yen stays as strong against the euro/dollar/sterling as it has been, it's going to be pretty expensive.

I still cannot find anything related to this one...
Alan, did you hear about any news for this box set?

Some release date or range of price would be most welcome, indeed.  :)

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't appear to have been released yet. The original info came from Saito-san who runs the Jinya label - posted on Mixi, which is kind of the Japanese equivalent of Facebook. I guess that when it comes out, he will post again and add it to the Jinya site too:

I've been checking Jinya Disc website daily, but it seems there's still nothing new about this box. I reckon patience is a virtue!

The latest posting from Saito-san a couple of days ago says that the release date will now be late April.

Sorry to bother again, but do we have any news for this?
Will the box be due late May that time?  :P

No word yet. I'll keep checking on mixi, as the news seems to get posted there first.

And just after I posted that there was another post from Saito-san. It seems they are having problems with the design and printing of the packaging. So delayed again. He didn't give a new target release date.

Thanks so much for the reply  :)
I'd very much like to see how it looks, though!
I guess we'll have to be even more patient... hope it will be worth it!  :D

Incredible, I've been checking this daily, and now there it is.

Thanks for the information, it seems there will be more than one box of Takayanagi rare materials (archive 1). I'm growing impatient to discover the artwork!

is anyone aware of a premium for this (i.e. at disc union or otherwise)?  i saw some comment about a bonus DVD but i assume that is common to all copies...

The DVD is the premium. It's an edit of an action direct performance. There's knob twiddling and guitar abuse galore.

Most places seem to have the DVD with their copies, at least at the moment, so it looks to be an earlier adopter bonus rather than a disk union bonus. The UK sellers I've seen are offering the DVD and Mimaroglu are also offering it in yesterday's update for those stateside.

Hello, I am the user "wiredtrap" but unfortunately forgot my password, and the email address associated with it, so i've had to re-register..

My question is:  is there anyone in the loop who knows when the "Archive 2" set will be released?   Jinya disc website hasn't been updated in nearly a year, but it makes a general reference to 2010 as the release date.  thanks

Jinya tend to announce more of their forthcoming stuff in a group on Mixi (kind of a Japanese version of facebook), but there hasn't been anything new posted there for a few months. so, your guess is as good as mine....
