Information / Re: Takayanagi box

Hello, I am the user "wiredtrap" but unfortunately forgot my password, and the email address associated with it, so i've had to re-register..

My question is:  is there anyone in the loop who knows when the "Archive 2" set will be released?   Jinya disc website hasn't been updated in nearly a year, but it makes a general reference to 2010 as the release date.  thanks

Further to the first entry at this topic, here:

The link there shows a (brief) collaboration with Shizuka and Takashi Mizutani.

The description states that the video documents an event that was ultimately attended by the local constabulary
- something like Velvets' "Symphony of Sound"...?

Just around the corner, presumably with adequate sound-proofing, a recent excursion...

... maybe the only official record in 10 years of DJ Haino Keiji, is found on Tokyo Flashback 5.

another thought is to go to modern and see what flyers they have out.  if there's anyone you specifically want to see, i'd google their webpage and check their upcoming show listings.

Information / new PSF release: Urabe/Ishizuka

haven't posted one of these for a while...

Natsu no sebone
PSFD-194 (CD)
Release date: June 10 – OUT NOW!

Alto Saxophone, Bells  --  Masayoshi Urabe
Percussion  --  Toshi Ishizuka

Thrilling, bloodshaking, soulscraping and defiantly non-sexless improv set from two Japanese titans.

Recorded live at the Apia club in Tokyo in December last year, this set showcases Urabe’s uniquely physical approach to improvisation – ferociously concentrated, contorted, sweating and eruptive with physical power. His lines seem to boil up from his flesh, with gurgles, gasps and rasping breath defining sparse, sonic regions in which silence itself seems to breath. Ishizuka is the perfect foil, providing subtle shade and balance around Urabe’s transformative sculpting of space.

One track, 58 minutes. Comes with a booklet of evocative black and white photographs of the event by Tatsuo Suzuki. The title translates as “The Backbone of Summer”.

Forthcoming releases:
July 10th – Tamio Shiraishi – Chikatetsu (Subway in Queens, New York) PSFD-195
September/October – new albums by le son de l’os and Kazuki Tomokawa

This Abe footage is mind shattering.  Beyond words exciting getting to see him in this kind of footage.

A couple of interesting things i came across today:

First, a podcast by the Japanese underground music writer Takeo Udagawa. Some rare things here by JA Caesar, Morita Doji, Tomokawa, Mikami etc.
Could be interesting if this turns into a series...

A great piece of Satie by Kosugi Takehisa and Shimada Riri, released on LP on the Strange Fruits label. Lots of rare Kosugi 1980s performance photos too.

And just in case anyone was wondering what Abe Kaoru's appearance in that Wakamatsu Koji was like, here it is:

Or what a pre-record debut Tomokawa Kazuki might look and sound like:
